Photo sources
There are many resources on the Web for photos and illustrations
to be used on your cover. They range from individual artists to
large image databases. Some are royalty free in that you pay an
up front charge that gives you rights to use the image in almost
any way you wish. Some will come with a fee that depends on how
you want to use them and whether you want exclusive rights. Here
are a few that I have used.

Editing sources
Believe me when I say I am not an editor. I have known a few
good ones and wondered if they were really from this planet. Wonderful
people nevertheless! I can't make a recommendation but here are
a few links given to me by others.
And of course Google book
editors.

How to publish sources
You may already have looked at these but if you haven't, you
should. I often get questions on how to market books. I'm neither
a publisher nor a writer so I can't speak from experience.
Some of them also give a how-to on designing your own book. At
the least this will give you an appreciation of what you are paying
me for, and if you feel you have the talent and inclination you
may want to try it yourself.

This is the only 'Publisher' that I have listed here. They are
a little bit different than some of the others. It's certainly
worth a look and download their free how to books while you're
on the site.
Printers & binders
Biddles
If you are printing your book in the UK have them
quote. They come highly recommended.
Felton
Bookbinding Ltd.
Perhaps the best hand binding shop in Canada,
maybe North America. You will have to e-mail them
for any pricing but I wouldn't expect it to be
inexpensive.
Fidlar
Doubleday
POD printer.
Friesens
Building books since 1907. Very competitive.
Gemini
Press
If you are reading this from the UK then get a
quote from them. I haven't done any direct work
with them so I can't give a recommendation but
if their work is anything like their Web site
I think you will be very happy.
Hemlock Printers
Located in Vancouver Canada. This is a well known
and high quality press.
Hignell
Book Printing
Located in Manitoba Canada. Competitive prices
in trade paperbacks.
King
Printing Company
Specialising in short run printing.
Lightning
Source (LSI)
POD printer. If you are only printing a small
number of books this is the place to start looking.
Metropolitan
Fine Printers
If your book is a fine art coffee table book you
can't do better than this printer. I have worked
with them on several projects and their printing
is beautiful.
Quebecor
Large multinational with head office in Montreal,
Canada. Printing for publishers world-wide, they
have many options available for your project.
Rasmussen
Bindery
Situated in North Vancouver Canada. Fine bindings.
The Web site has some great photos of fine bindings.
RR Donnelley
One of the big boys. This may not be your final
choice for printing but the site is full of technical
information and so is worth a look.
The
Danforth Review, Canadian small presses
Some fine presses doing wonderful work. Also some
down and dirty presses doing interesting stuff.

worth a look.
